Trauma and Brainspotting
What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach that connects mind and body to process and release deeply held emotional pain. It works by identifying specific eye positions—called “Brainspots”—that access the parts of your brain where trauma, stress, and negative experiences are stored. With the support of a compassionate therapist, Brainspotting allows healing to unfold naturally and at your own pace.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting is gentle, potentially non-verbal, and body-focused, making it especially helpful if you’ve struggled to put your feelings into words or felt overwhelmed by reliving past experiences.
What to Expect
A Safe and Affirming Environment: Your session begins with creating a space where you feel completely safe to be yourself.
Finding Your Brainspot: Using a combination of guided focus and attuned support, we locate the Brainspot connected to the emotions or experiences you wish to process.
Mind-Body Awareness: You’ll be encouraged to notice any physical sensations or emotions that arise as you process and release what’s been holding you back.
Gentle and Non-Intrusive: There’s no need to relive painful memories in detail. Brainspotting works subtly and powerfully to resolve trauma beneath the surface.
